Happy birthday Jose & Pietro!
Josephine and Pietro both turned 7 last week, on February 2nd and 5th, respectively. All the kids celebrated with a great birthday party!
Sia Josephine che Pietro hanno compiuto sette anni la scorsa settimana, rispettivamente il 2 e il 5 febbraio. È stata una festa per tutti i bambini!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2017
Dearest friends of our mission,
It is always with great joy that we write to you, our family. First of all, best wishes for a merry Christmas and a happy new year. May the baby Jesus in the crib, whether big or small, bless you and your families. May you live life as a “thanks” to whom gave it to you. There is much suffering nowadays in every corner of the world, but we shall not lose hope as Jesus came to us and for us, and will not abandon us. These are the best wishes that our “Casa della Gioia” community gives you.
Time for some news from our home. Besides taking care of the kids, many of them, often sick and some with serious health issues, we try to keep up with the work in the fields. Our orchard starts giving some fruits. The photo on the top is a papaya tree. We have a few of them, with delicious and nutritious fruits. The kids love it. We have a few hens, but no hen-house to increase their number. We hope to accomplish this project in the future. The pig-house is completed with a few of them, and we have already tried the meat. The kids are happy because they can see what comes from our field tastes better, fills their tummies, and is healthy too. I shall always repeat that all we have and do is because you put it in our hands. Thank you. Thank you. Eight of our kids have finished primary school, have passed, and are now getting ready for secondary school which starts in January. The five oldest ones have completed their studies, and have found a job. It is a success for us to make it till the end with good results. We thank the Lord who manoeuvres our boat.
Our dearest, do not get tired of helping us. Our-and-your kids need you, your prayers, your caring, for their school, their health, their food. Let us work together, we from here, and you from wherever you are. Distance does not matter, all that matters is love and generosity, and our collaboration. Buon Natale 2016 e Anno Nuovo 2017
Carissimi amici della missione,
Sempre con gioia ci ritroviamo per le feste natalizie a comunicare con voi che siete la nostra famiglia. Anzitutto auguri per il santo natale e anno nuovo, il Bambinello Gesù che vediamo nel presepe, piccolo o grande che sia, vi benedica assieme alle vostre famiglie e vi conceda la gioia di vivere la vita come un grazie al Datore della vita. Troppi dolori oggi ci sono in ogni parte della terra ma noi non dobbiamo perdere mai la speranza perchè Gesù è venuto da noi e per noi, e non ci abbandona. Questo è l’augurio più bello che tutta la comunità “Casa della Gioia” vi fa.
E ora un po’ di notizie di casa nostra. Oltre alla cura dei bambini che sono tanti, spesso ammalati e qualcuno con gravi problemi di salute, cerchiamo di portare avanti il lavoro nel nostro campo che comincia a dare qualche frutto. La foto in alto è la pianta di papaia. Ne abbiamo parecchie con il frutto buono e nutriente. Ai bambini piace moltissimo, abbiamo un po’ di galline ma non il pollaio per mettere più galline, speriamo in seguito di realizzare questo progetto. La casa per i maiali è terminata e ce ne sono un po’, già fatto il primo assaggio della carne. I bambini sono felici perché vedono che quello che viene dal campo oltre ad essere più buono riempie meglio la pancia e non fa male. Lo ripeto sempre che tutto quello che abbiamo e facciamo è perché voi ci riempite le mani. Grazie. Grazie. Otto dei nostri bambini hanno terminato la scuola elementare, promossi, ora si preparano per il nuovo anno a gennaio 2017 per la scuola secondaria. I cinque più grandi hanno terminato di studiare e trovato lavoro. Per noi è una vittoria arrivare alla fine con buoni risultati. Rendiamo grazie al Signore che dirige bene la nostra barca.
Carissimi, non stancatevi di aiutarci. I nostri, i vostri bambini hanno bisogno di voi, della vostra preghiera, del vostro affetto, per la scuola, la salute, il cibo. Lavoriamo insieme noi da qui e voi dal posto dove vi trovate. La distanza non ha importanza, quello che conta è l’amore e la generosità con cui collaboriamo. Vita con i piccoli – Life with the kids
La vita coi piccoli e’ bella, anche se richiede spesso di rinunciare a qualcosa.
Vederli felici e crescere bene ricompensa ogni sacrificio.
Life with the kids is beautiful, though it often requires to give up something.
Seeing them happy and growing is the reward for all our sacrifices.

Dearest friends of Casa della Gioia,
We are always glad to know that you follow our kids. As you can see from the picture above, they are doing well, and are always happy and noisy. Those in the photo are just some of them. The other ones were at school as they have different timetables. There are 42 of them: we’ve got a nice big family.
As usual, I’d like to update you on what we’ve been able to accomplish with your help. We built a little house in the field we had bought. This includes storage room and space for the guardian. Thanks to the hardworking sisters we are now cultivating the field to meet the center’s needs.
This year we harvested corn for our polenta (enough for the whole year), we are now harvesting various kinds of vegetables in abundance, and many eggplants. We plated a few onions and fruit trees, and we even set up a small banana plantation. We are happy because we wanted vegetables, as the ones we buy are never enough. However, my greatest joy comes from seeing our kids running happily whenever they go to the field, with no risk of tripping and falling, feeling at home. Thank you so much. We still have to build a cattleshed, and I am sure that the Providence will help us work it out. The kids need meat, milk, and eggs. Prices at the market keep rising, and it becomes almost impossible for us to buy there. We don’t lose our hope to move forward since this is not just our work but the Lord’s.
Dearest friends, we have made you aware of what we can accomplish with your collaboration. Do not get tired of it, these kids are ours/yours and deserve to live a happy life like all other kids. Some of them ask “where are mom and dad? why do they never come?”. It’s not easy to reply, but they eventually answer themselves that the parents they never met are actually us and you, moms and dads. Every day our kids pray for you. In this time of the year, as we prepare for the birth of our Redeemer, we take the opportunity to wish you a merry Christmas and happy new year 2016. May it bring peace and hope to this world of uncertainties and dangers. We are sure that God is here, living with us. Along with our wishes, we ask you to keep up with your love made of generosity.

Buon Natale e felice anno nuovo 2016
Carissimi amici della Casa della Gioia,
E’ sempre una gioia sapere di essere assieme a voi che seguite i nostri bambini. Come si vede dalla foto, stanno bene e come sempre sono allegri e rumorosi. Quelli che vedete sono un gruppo, altri sono a scuola perche’ hanno turni diversi, comunque per i bisogni e per mangiare ci siamo tutti. Sono 42 tra grandi e piccoli. Una bella famiglia la nostra.
Come sempre mi piace dare un po’ di notizie su quello che siamo riuscite a realizzare con il vostro contributo. Nel campo che avevamo comprato con l’aiuto degli amici abbiamo costruito una casetta per i bisogni delle suore, un magazzino, la casetta per il guardiano, e con la buona volonta’ delle suore stiamo cominciando a coltivare per i bisogni del centro.
Quest’anno abbiamo raccolto il mais per la polenta (sufficiente per tutto l’anno), cominciamo a raccogliere le varie verdure (ne abbiamo raccolte tante) e tante melenzane. Abbiamo piantato un po’ di cipolle e alberi da frutto e abbiamo messo su anche un piccolo bananeto. Siamo contente perche’ si desiderava un pò di verdura, quando si compra non e’ mai abbondante, e’ sempre poca. Ma la mia grande gioia e’ vedere i nostri bambini quando vanno in campagna correre felici e sicuri di non inciampare e cadere, si sentono a casa loro. Grazie, grazie. Ancora dobbiamo costruire le stalle per gli animali e sono sicura che la Provvidenza ci aiutera’ a realizzare questo progetto. I bimbi hanno bisogno della carne, del latte e delle uova. I prezzi al mercato aumentano e per noi diventa quasi impossibile comprare. Non perdiamo la speranza di andare avanti perche’ l’opera non e’ nostra ma di Dio.
Carissimi, vi abbiamo fatto partecipi di quello che riusciamo a compiere con la vostra collaborazione. Non stancatevi, i bambini sono nostri/vostri e hanno il diritto di vivere una vita serena come tutti i bambini. Qualcuno di loro chiede “dove e’ la mia mamma, il mio papa’, perche’ non vengono mai?”. Non è facile rispondere, ma dopo loro stessi si rispondono che i genitori che non hanno conosciuto siamo noi e voi, mamme e papa’. Ogni giorno i nostri bambini pregano per voi. Cogliamo questo momento che ci prepara al ricordo della nascita del nostro Salvatore per augurarvi un santo e felice Natale e anno nuovo 2016. Che sia portatore di pace e speranza in questo mondo che da’ incertezze, che offre pericoli. Noi abbiamo la certezza che Dio c’e’, vive in mezzo a noi e con noi. Con questo augurio vi chiediamo di continuare questa catena di amore fatto di generosita’.
